About

Julie is a children’s librarian in the Chicagoland area. She likes science fiction, grilled cheese sandwiches, and walking with friends. Before starting work in libraries in 2006 (earning her MLIS in 2008), Julie spent six years teaching toddlers and preschoolers in the field of early childhood education.

This blog will focus on library services and materials for children and teens, with a special focus on storytime, ethics, leadership, EDI, and social justice.

  3. Do you think they’ll let us have grilled cheese sandwiches during our Cybils discussions? What a wonderful resource you’ve got here. I will have not seen some of the blogs in your blogroll, so I better be off …

    Glad to meet you!

    1. Nice to meet you, too! I think chances are high that discussions of easy readers might just lend themselves to a mention of grilled cheese occasionally…I know I’ll be looking out for an opportunity!

  4. Hey miss Julie!
Miss Parry here (‘member me? The good ole days at Dominican?) Anyway, I enjoyed visiting your site, got some good tips, will be back! I ended up here when I saw on the Cybils site that you’re on the panel this year. Congratulations and keep up the good work 🙂

  6. Hi Julie!

I just wanted to write you real quick and say how much I enjoy your blog – the information, the tone, the whole shebang. It’s a really great spot on the web for me, a fellow youth services librarian, to explore the field a bit more and continue developing professionally.
